2023 race

Welcome back to Indian Lake County Park (map).  Looking forward to seeing all of your mud-splattered, smiling faces again soon!

Race date

Sat, Oct 7, 2023

Distances

We will return to the classic ~7K and ~12K courses, with modest changes to accommodate trail re-routes.

The free kids run is on as well (no registration required).

Childcare with Aldo Leopold Nature Center

We are partnering again with ALNC to offer free youth programming pre-run, and childcare during the race, for kiddos 5-12 years old.

The cost for childcare is $20 per child and is limited to 20 children. Pre-registration is required:

Cup-Free Racing!

Nothing kills the vibe of running through the forest like coming up on an aid station littered with discarded single-use cups. Sure, our volunteers would clean up afterwards, but in an effort to reduce our impact on the natural areas we love, we are going cup-free!

There will not be paper cups at aid stations or at the start/finish. If you expect needing hydration on-course, you are responsible for bringing your own cup/bottle/bladder. We will have water dispensers at aid stations to top-off.

Going cup-free is a significant step to bringing our event closer to zero-waste and being better stewards of our public lands.

Check out this resource for why and how to go cup-free.

Pro-Tip: Event sponsor, Movin’ Shoes, has loads of hydration options!

Goodies

TBD.

After Party

Our celebration of Fall, trails, and Indian Lake doesn’t end at the finish line; we are looking forward to the return of our post-race party!

The Currach Irish Trio will once again be headlining while we enjoy food, beverage, and the raffle.

*Public health recommendations will dictate what exactly our celebration will look like; participant and volunteer safety of course remains our priority!

Savanna Series

Welcome to the Savanna Trail Race Series! Traverse woods, hills, and prairies at Donald and Indian Lake county parks, Blue Mound and New Glarus Woods state parks, and Black Hawk Ridge above the Wisconsin River, and explore “urban” trails at Pheasant Branch Conservancy’s Prairie Chase! Savanna Series partners support local restoration projects.
